Trace Awards and Festivals happened from Friday 20th October 2023 to Sunday 22nd October 2023. The prestigious award ceremony occurred at East Africa’s biggest indoor arena, BK Arena – in Kigali Rwanda. The first-ever awards and festival ceremony attracted music, fashion, and cultures across the world. Performances by Diamond Platnumz, Jux, Kenya’s very own Nadia Mukami, Davido amongst others lightened the mood of those in attendances and those watching from different parts of the world via the Trace Media platforms. However, all eyes from Kenya were on the two nomineesJanet Otieno and Nadia Mukami – and the rest of the world was waiting to see who will be the first ever winners of the first ever Trace Awards and Festivals.

 

Trace Awards and Festivals 2023 Nominees.

 

2Face Idibia from Nigeria received the first ever Trace Awards Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the African music and fashion world. Nomcebo Zikode – South African singer and songwriter – was the winner of the first ever Best Global African Artist while Rema from Nigeria won the Global African Artist making it his second award at the ceremony after winning Best Song of the Year with Calm Down. Mr. Eazi from Nigeria was the winner of the Change Maker Award.
