Over the years, since its launch in 2008 as a platform for the promotion, celebration, and exposure of emerging live Kenyan music, Blankets & Wine has established itself as one of the more popular live music experiences in Kenya, East Africa, Africa and the world at large where music, food, craft, and fashion are paired to create an event that delights and uplifts. The now quarterly event (recurring four times a year) attracts different acts in the entertainment world and its fanbase has grown gradually to the extent that every event is sold out.
October 1st, 2023, will mark the third edition of the Blankets & Wine of the year 2023 as part of the organizers commitment to a quarterly showcase. The event takes place at the Laureate Gardens within the Kasarani Stadium premises on Sunday commencing at noon and extending into the late hours. As tickets sales are ongoing, the line up features a diverse selection of performers, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees. In an official announcement via their social media channels, the organizers confirmed the participation of esteemed artists including Blinky Bill, Wangechi, Ethan Muziki, Muthaka, Ayrosh, Charisma, Juacali, and Suzanna Owiyo.
After going on hiatus during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the event made an in-person comeback in 2022 with the Kenyan Summer 2 edition headlined by Nigerian artist CKay alongside Kenyan performers Savara, Wakadinali and The Only Rosa. The year 2023 has marked a massive growth of the event as for the prior two editions have featured incredible artists such as Nyashinski, Nviiri the storyteller, Boutross, Xenia Manasseh, Les Wanyika, Lisa Oduor, Okello Max, Kinoti, Nameless, Bensoul, Maya Omolo, Khaligraph Jones, Coster Ojwang and many more.
