“Emotional Gangster”, is such a thought-provoking title for an album, well Wangechi who is known for her thought-provoking lyrism has announced that her upcoming album will be titled “Emotional Gangster”. For the past two years – from 2020 – Wangechi has been one of the most hardworking rappers in Kenya, East Africa, and Africa at large, putting in massive work in terms of collaborations and singles. Since her music debut in 2013, Wangechi caught music fans’ attention when she was featured by King Kaka in “Ligi Soo Remix”. This was the genesis of a successful career that has her now considered as one of the best rappers of her generation. Her debut major project came in 2017 when she released her EP dubbed “Don’t Consume If Seal Is Broken”, that shook the music scenes in Africa. The 9 tracks project proved to many that indeed Wangechi’s rapping skills and punchline abilities are extra ordinary.

In 2022, Wangechi made a comeback after her absence in music and she released a collaborative album with Scar Mkadinali – a renowned member of Wakidinali trio – dubbed “Chonjo”. This project was a masterpiece as it brought together two of the best rappers in Kenya. Songs like “Nairobi Pengz” and “Romantic Rivals” from the album were instant hits becoming anthems across all audio and visual entertainment spaces. The album gad 10 tracks.

After the success of these two projects and the success of her singles released in between these two projects, Wangechi is in the kitchen again and this time round she has announced that her solo album is almost here. The project is set to be released on the 15th of September 2023 and already Wangechi has shared the track list and the cover of the album. Speaking of the album, Wangechi revealed that this new body if work will showcase her prowess and duality, her gangster or emotional personalities. With the lead single already out – “Mzigo” feat Burukyln Boyz – this body of work is set to break boundaries and open more doors for Wangechi. The album will have 10 massive tracks and it will feature Buruklyn Boyz, Domani Mkadinali and Kaa La Moto.
