The prestigious African Muzik Magazine Awards – AFRIMMA – show and musical festival returns this year 2023 and it’s set to be held in Dallas, Texas from the 15th to 17th of September 2023. This year’s award ceremony promises to be the best and the biggest as this time the ceremony will be marking the 10 year anniversary. For a decade now, AFRIMMA has been at the forefront of celebrating African music and recognizing the immense talent that exists across the continent and in the diaspora. The idea which was birthed by a Nigerian businessman Angerson Obiagwu in 2014, has become a significant platform that brings together artists, music enthusiasts, industry professionals, and fans from all corners of the world. AFRIMMA has not only celebrated established musicians but has also provided a stepping stone to many rising stars, contributing to the growth and evolution of African music and African sound on the global stage.
Since its first edition on July 26th, 2014 at the Eisenmann Center, Dallas, AFRIMMA has a total of 28 prizes overseeing the achievements of African artistes within their specific regions of origin and the genre-based continental awards – Afrobeats, Afro-Trap, Assiko, Bongo, Coupé-décalé, Genge, Highlife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous-.
