PASC Langa, Wiyeta Girls Rift Valley Champions.

PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls crowned Rift Valley Regional Champions.

 

 

PASC Langa, Wiyeta Girls from Rift Valley region joins Ebwali FC and Brenda Girls from Western and Obunga FC and Plateau Queens from Nyanza Region, who have all qualified for the next year’s national finals of the ongoing Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tournament. This comes after PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls were crowned Rift Valley regional champions in both the boys and the girls categories respectively.

 

PASC Langa edged out defending regional champions Laiser Hill Academy from Kajiado County 2-1, to clinch the regional championship in a highly contested match played at the ASK Showground Nakuru, on the 12th of November 2023. Samson Maina gave PASC Langa the lead in the 58th minute. Benson Otieno doubled their lead in the 67th minute by converting a free kick making it 2-0. Joseph Oduor scored a consolation goal for Laiser Hill in the 89th minute.

 

Obunga FC and Plateau Queens, both from Kisumu County, crowned 2023 champions of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Nyanza region.

 

In the girls’ category, Wiyeta girls retained their regional championship after securing a narrow 1-0 win against Trinity Mission Girls from Nakuru county, in an entertaining match played at the ASK Showground Nakuru, on the 12th of November 2023. The only goal was scored by Margy Melitus, who  converted a corner cross from Lorine Ilavonga expertly heading the ball into the back of the net in the 69th minute to give Wiyeta Girls the well deserved hard fought win.

 

Ebwali Boys and Brenda Girls are Western Region Chapa Dimba na Safaricom champions

 

In their journey to regional victories, PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls defeated Ndura FC from Trans Nzoia County 6-5 on penalties, and Ol Melil FC from Narok County 2-0 respectively in an intense showdown semi-final matches played on Saturday 11th of November 2023. In other semi finals, Laiser Hill and Trinity Mission Girls had booked their slots to the regional finals after sinking Mwenge FC 4-1 and Itigo Girls 2-1, respectively.

 

PASC Langa and Wiyeta Girls each pocketed KES. 250,000, and will represent the Rift Valley region in the National finals slated for early next year for chance to be crowned National Champions and a grand prize of 1 Million Kenya Shillings. The runners-up – Laiser Hill and Trinity Mission – each took home KES. 150,000. The Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, and Top Scorer (boys and girls) each received KES. 30,000.

 

Samson Maina from PASC Langa was the MVP of the regional finals in the boys’ category while Brian Shateya from PASC Langa and Bol Akuei from Laiser Hill emerged the top scorers in the boys’ category. Elly Karanja from PASC Langa was named best keeper in the boys category. In the girls’ category, Melitus Margy of Wiyeta Girls doubled as top scorer and MVP. Velma Auma of Wiyeta Girls  was nemed the best keeper in the regionals competition.
