Apple is scheduled to launch new products on Tuesday 12th September 2023. The event will be aired live on Apple’s YouTube channel – Apple – and the Apple website – Apple.com. The expectations are high from all Apple product users and also Apple competitors who are eagerly waiting to see what Apple has in store for this launch. Amongst the most anticipated products is the iPhone 15 which according to many will be the headlining the launch. As per the previous events, this event is expected to kick off at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Apple’s HQ will see a pre-recorded keynote, kickstarted by Tim Cook in person. Then press and guests will see and touch the new products in a hands-on area in the theater.
iPhone 15
Apple is expected to release four new iPhone models (these will be the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max), continuing the pattern that’s been in place since 2020. According to reports from Bloomberg News, TF International Securities hardware analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Wall Street analysts, this year, the biggest change is expected to be a USB-C charging port, replacing Apple’s proprietary Lightning port, which was introduced in 2012. This change is being driven by new European Regulations which require a common charging port.
New Pro models could get a titanium casing, replacing the stainless steel used in the past few models. Titanium is lighter than steel, reducing the phones’ total weight.
The mute switch, which has been present on iPhones for over a decade, could gain new functions as a customizable “action button.”
Apple is also likely to focus on camera, where iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 plus will feature a more powerful wide camera with 48MP. iPhone 15 Pro models will come with further enhancements – these are expected to include a “periscope” camera lens that can provide greater zoom with twice the strength as the 3x zoom lens on the iPhone 14 Pro.
The iPhone 15 range will also come with an upgraded microchip, the A17 bionic. The chip is expected to be a cutting-edge 3 nanometer processor with more efficiency that will also boost the phone’s battery life.
iPhone 15 will maintain with the “dynamic island” screen design at the top which was introduced from iPhone X in place of the prior “notch” at the top of older models. This design will have an adaptive display around a punch-hole camera at the top of the camera.
The glass screen will also curve slightly around the edges
iPhone 15 is expected to have screens measuring 6.1-inches and 6.7-inches on the iPhone 15 Plus.
Apple Watches
Apple is also anticipated to upgrade its Watch line-up to the Apple Watch Series 9 with a more powerful processor as well as update its health sensors. It remains to be seen whether it will also upgrade the Apple Watch Ultra, its more sporty, durable version, that was first released last year or may save bigger changes for the device’s 10th anniversary next year (2024).
AirPods
AirPods Pro will get a new feature that doesn’t need new hardware called Adaptive Audio which will use machine learning and software to intelligently turn down the volume and noise canceling so users can be aware of their immediate surroundings. With the upgrade to USB-C on Apple’s iPhones, there are also expectations of a revamp of its AirPods.
The Vision Pro
Apple fans will also be looking out for any new details about Apple’s VR headset – the Vision Pro – which was teased earlier this summer but is not expected to be released until next year.
iOS 17
Apple users are expected to get a new software for their devices – iOS 17 – which will be the latest operating system that was previewed in June. Many of Apple’s best new features don’t require new hardware and will be available to everyone with an iPhone released since 2018.
Here’s some of what is new in iOS 17
- The software includes a revamp of the caller ID screen called “contact posters” where users can choose the images that show up when they call other iPhone users.
- Autocorrect has been improved using a transformer-based language model, the same technology underpinning applications like ChatGPT.
- A new Journal app encourages users to save thoughts and feelings on a daily basis and uses on-device machine learning to spot patterns without sending the data to a server in the cloud.
- A new standby dock mode turns your phone into a clock with widgets that can show alarms, appointments or other updating information.
- A business card replacement called NameDrop allows two iPhone users to exchange personal information by tapping their phones together.
- Offline Apple maps make it possible for users to save huge swaths of roads and land to navigate even without cellphone service.
