Xenia Manasseh is a songwriter, singer, and dancer born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, but with Malawian and Ugandan heritage. Since her introduction to music, Xenia has never looked back but rather she has continued to win over many fans with her refreshing new sounds of music which has clarity and pureness. Being a graduate – Music Business and Management – at the College of Music of Berklee, her music is heavily influenced by different music greats – Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and India Arie – making her blend different genres in her music – Neo-soul, R&B and even Jazz – to produce an unforgettable sound. She has a vision to create music for all audiences that is relatable, honest and will be a reflection of her life, values and experiences; music that binds people from various walks of life because it speaks on real, universal messages.
On the 1st of September 2023, Xenia Manasseh released her much anticipated debut album “Love/Hate Pt.1”, which comes after her debut EP “Falling Apart” – which was released on October 3rd, 2019 – and her second EP “Maybe” – which was released on the 25th November 2022 – did exceptionally well and opened huge doors for her in the music business. Now a force to reckon with, many of her fans have been yawning for a full project from her in years and its safe to say that “Love/Hate Pt. 1” has filled that hunger of not only her fans but also music fans across the world.
The album was well crafted and it well captures the essence of love’s highs and lows. Listening to the album, creates a music cohesive force that attracts and connects you with the emotions and experiences that are woven into her soulful music. Furthermore, Xenia’s unique blend of relatable lyrics, lush vocals, and intricate songwriting stands out making the album a masterpiece. The title of the album “Love/Hate” is from the last song in the album “Love/Hate” which encompasses all the feelings that are spoken about in the album. Describing the album, Xenia Manasseh noted that, everything in the album falls under those two words – Love and Hate – and It’s like a pendulum swing—you’re in and you’re out. When people listen, the title will resonate with them.
