Without me Kenyan Music is nothing – willy paul

Willy Paul is not new  to controversy in and out of music. Him being one of the top musicians in Kenya, his success dates back during his days as a gospel artist. He made a switch from gospel to secular citing hypocrisy amongst stakeholders in the gospel industry as his biggest reason of the switch. Over his career, he has been vocal and quick to criticize the Kenyan music industry and promises to be the change that the industry needs in order to compete with the rest of the world. The “sitolia” hitmaker has also been advising Kenyan artists to follow in his foot steps in order to achieve the heights he has achieved as an artist.

His outcry comes just days after fellow musical counterpart Bahati urged celebrities to unite in order to put Kenyan music on the map after it emerged that Tanzanians were topping the chats in Kenya. By using released statistics, by some of the streaming platforms, Bahati lamented that foreign artists are enjoying Kenyan airplay at the very expense of the local artists because foreign artists are all united to take their music to the next level. From our Radios, TVs, YouTube, and other DSPs, number one to number ten trending day in day out is songs from mostly Tanzania and other countries including West Africa, and South Africa. Bahati added that musicians in Kenya should stop thinking that you can make it alone and simply come together or else as a country we will keep curtain raising foreign acts.

In  a lengthy post, Willy Paul apologized to his fans and music fans at large for disappointing them by not releasing any new music. He continued to say that he did that on purpose to show all that the Kenyan music is nothing without his input. Willy Paul assured his fans that their cries have been heard and since he loves them he has decided to do away with the punishment and he is going to give them new music very soon. ” I’m sorry fam, I know I’ve disappointed most of you by not releasing any new music. Anyway, I did all that on purpose. To show all of you how the industry is bullsh**t without my input. Some will differ with me but majority will take my side. Musicians have tried releasing content but waaaaappi?? Since I love my fans and my haters equally, I’ve decided to do away with the punishment. Giving you new music in a few days. I’m glad now everyone knows that without Pozze, the Kenyan music  industry is as good as dead! Lesson learnt! To all of you that kept sending me message asking for new music, say no more!”, end of quote. All eyes now are on Willy Paul in anticipation of new music from him.
